May Madness!

May always seems to be such a crazy and busy month. It is always packed with end of the school year activities and the kids activities come to an end. It is a lot to juggle but it is all such fun stuff.

Lucas had his last soccer game of the season a few weeks ago. This team started together back in the fall. It was a rough start but all the parents were so impressed with how far they came by the end of the indoor season. They didn't score a ton but they were running so much faster and really fighting for the ball and getting competitive. Lucas can't wait to practice with the team over the summer and start back up with outdoor season in the fall.

Last week the school had a kindergarten celebration. The kids sang in the gym for the parents. It was a really cute show. It took awhile for Lucas to adjust to kindergarten in the beginning but he ended up having a really really great year!

We were a little scared to sign Lucas up for baseball this spring. Most of his soccer friends were playing so we gave it a shot. We were very pleased with how into it he was and pretty well behaved. He had fun learning the game and did pretty well with it! He loves baseball and can't wait to play again....so it looks like we made the right decision signing him up!

Mother's day was great this year. We did the same thing as last year and rented bikes and road on the Katy Trail and stopped at a brewery and winery along the way. This year Bob's parents and sister (Holly) joined us and they had a great time too. The weather was great and we all had so much fun!

This past weekend was the craziest weekend. Lucas had his last baseball game and team party and Addison had her dance recital. This was her 4th year of dance...hard to believe that we have gone through this 4 times now. She performed in both the afternoon and evening show in jazz and hip hop.

More is yet to come in May.

Desk....before and after

We have been making a few minor changes in the house and slowly buying some new furniture. I have been looking and looking for a desk for the kids and I to use since the one we had is now dedicated to Bob for when he works from home. I really wanted to find one to reuse and paint. I was searching and searching and was just not able to find something I liked.

Then one day my mom texts me a picture of a desk that my Dad found in their garage. Good thing my Dad likes to hold on to things. My wonderful Mom then sanded it and painted it white for me and then I spray painted the hardware and I think it looks so much better!

after!!!!

Here is a view of my space in the den and a picture of my new chair that I am in love with! It is an early mother's day gift! We still need to hang that picture and we probably need to put the cords from the tv in the wall....but that will happen another day. Bob's desk has a great view of the tv which will make working from home a little more enjoyable for him!

Lucas turns 6!

It is really really really hard to believe that Lucas is 6 years old. I feel like I was just getting used to the idea that he was in kindergarten and now my little guy is 6. He has grown so much in the past year...not just physically but in so many ways. He has matured a lot (although he is still a spunky and crazy boy), learned so much (is doing well with learning to read and loves math) and has been doing so very well in school with following directions and all the rules and just being such a good boy (he has his moments still of course). I am thrilled that he has grown physically as well. Between 4 and 5 he gained very little weight but he made up for it this year. He gained almost 4 lbs and finally hit 40 lbs!

The birthday boy with his gifts from us.

His party was  a lot of fun. It was at a bowling alley and they had cosmic bowling. His cousins came, a few boys from his class and some long-time friends. It was a great time!

The favors were "bowling balls" (aka whoppers) with teenage mutant ninja turtle tattoos and a mini skateboard tied to it.

Lucas and his good buddy from school.

Lucas has also come such a long way with sports this year. He was not too trilled when I signed him up for soccer a year ago (he has played through 3 seasons) and now coach-pitch baseball. We have been so lucky to have him as part of a team with great coaches, great kids and great families. He now loves to go to practice and games and he has come so far!!! We are crazy proud of him!

Happy 6th birthday Lucas!!!! We love you!

Easter 2013

Not too much to say about Easter this year except that it was fun as usual and the kids were thrilled for a visit from the easter bunny!

Lucas lost his first tooth!

I still need to post about Easter and Lucas' birthday but then I forgot that I forgot to post about Lucas loosing his first tooth (like I did with Addison). Addison didn't lose her first tooth until right after she turned 7 so I didn't expect that Lucas would lose one so soon. He lost it on Easter...a few weeks before turning 6. It was a bottom tooth and he already had an adult tooth coming in behind it. I imagine he will lose the one next to it soon since there is a tooth growing there are well.

So, here is my little guy after loosing his first tooth...and now he is 6! How can my baby be this old???

Winter in review!

I can't believe I haven't posted all year. We have been busy but not THAT busy. Here is a quick review as to how the first part of the year has been.

I spent many weeks preparing and helping with the kids school auction. The auction items took over my dining room and den but it was well worth it and the event was a success.

I forgot how much the kids love the Magic House. We had a great day there earlier this winter.

Bob and Addion had a great time at this years school Sweetheart Dance. They even went out to dinner on a double date with Addison's best friend Bella and her dad. I am sure Bob and Joe loved getting a few drinks in them before heading to the dance. :)

We got a decent amount of snow this year. This past weekend we went to Hidden Valley and went tubing and had a ton of fun!!!

We went to the 1st grade musical and Addison was thrilled to have the role as one of the adult pigs.

Bob and I tried to keep running outside a little this winter. We ran in a 12 mile trail race earlier this winter and last weekend we ran in the St. Louis St. Patty's day 5 mile run. That was fun!!!

Mostly this winter has been spent with the kids in school, doing homework, Lucas playing soccer, Addison going to dance and then just hanging out with friends and families on the weekends. Bob is working a massive amount of hours but he is loving it. We have made a decision to not finish the basement anytime soon but instead we are replacing some of our furniture and making a few changes on the first floor. The furniture buying process has been interesting and fun.

We are very very anxious for spring to arrive and nice spring weather!!! We had one good spring-like day last week but we need more!!!

Come on Spring!!!!

Christmas 2012

I always look forward to Christmas each year and watching the kids open their gifts and spending time with family. This year the holidays took a turn for the worse just a few days before Christmas. We made the best of it but it just was not the same. Without going into too much detail, our nephew Brendan (he is 7) was hospitalized suddenly and it was very serious. We made the best of it but it was so hard to not have him there with us. I am happy to say that after 3 weeks in the hospital, he is back home and he is going to be ok!!!

Here is our family pic from Christmas Eve at my parents house.

Christmas morning was a hit. Addison loves her first pair of heels!

What would Christmas morning be for Lucas without some new legos!

Christmas was special for my nieces Molly and Katy...they got American Girl dolls. Now the 3 girls just love playing with their dolls together.

Our family pic on Christmas day.

Now that the holidays are over, the kids are in the swing of things at school. Lucas starts a new season of indoor soccer soon and Addison will be preparing for dance recital at the end of the year soon. I am getting involved with the kids school with helping out with the school auction. Bob and I are running a 12 mile race soon so we have been braving the cold. Things are good but especially good now that our nephew is home and doing well.
