Soccer is a success!

Lucas just started taking indoor soccer a few weeks ago. He has taken ice skating before (it went ok), swimming (went ok) and karate (didn't go so great). I was searching for an activity/sport that he would actually LIKE. I almost signed him up for t-ball and I am so glad I didn't....he would have been so bored. He needs constant movement and any time for him to just sit and watch would have been spent with him not listening and misbehaving. So, we signed him up for soccer. Although he has only gone 2 of the 10 weeks so far, he is off to a great start. He runs fast, kicks the ball plenty and played goalie once so far. So far, so good!

Lucas only has a few weeks left as a preschooler..... hard to believe. He did pretty well at his 5 year check up with getting 4 shots. He has not grown much between now and his 4 year check up. He only gained .8 lbs and 1.5 inches. He is a pretty small 35.8 lbs and 42.5 inch 5 year old. I am sure he will make up for the slow growth year soon enough.

Lucas turns 5!

Lucas was born on Friday the 13th and this past Friday the 13th Lucas turned 5. It is so hard to believe that he was born 5 long years ago. Part of me can't believe he is already 5 but the other part of me feels like he was born forever ago! Either way, it happened and he is growing up and will be off to kindergarten in just a few short months. Crazy.
Bob was off work Friday which made celebrating Lucas' birthday even more special. We took the opportunity to head to the St. Louis City Museum. Lucas and I were there once and I knew Bob and Addison were sure to love it too. If you have not been, you need to go! It is one of the most unique places I have ever been.
Here are the kids and Bob enjoying the skateboard rink area.
Ball pit jail!

Posing in front of some big underwear!
The outdoor area was crazy. It had rained earlier and was closed but they opened it up later in the afternoon. It was crazy slippery but we took full advantage of the fun outside!
I think this was one of Bob's favorite areas....human hamster wheel!
Bob and the kids went a little crazy outside and their wet butts prove it!!!
Crazy slide. It was intense just trying to get to it!
After the city museum we stopped off and had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants...Rigazzi's. We had no problem finishing our large pizza and boy was it good! (Oh, and Bob and I each had to have a fishbowl of beer)!!! He wore his hat that his teachers made for him.
After a long day we came home for some cake. A blues cake too. Go Blues!!!!
Saturday was another crazy day. We hosted a party for 18 kids at Monkey Joes! It was crazy but hopefully all the kids had fun!

Lucas' cake.
Costco did not have a pirate cake but I had them make me a plain one with just a boader and writing and then I added a few pirate cake toppers. I think it worked out well!
Lucas loved sitting on the special birthday chair. Oh, and yes his shirt is all wet from getting lots of drinks at the drinking fountain from playing so hard!
Addison stopped quick for a pic. Silly girl was playing on a bouncy for ages 3 and under.

We made the weekend even more crazy by then going to Six Flags today. We are tired now and ready for the weekend to be over actually! Lots of stuff coming up for us the next 2 months. Our calendar is full. Yikes!

Easter 2012

Well before Easter we celebrated my Mom's 65th birthday (sorry for spilling your age Mom but you know you look like your in your 50s).
My Mom with 2 of her biggest fans! :)
We spent the Saturday before Easter over at Bob's parents house. The 6 cousins ran wild and had a great time as usual. I only got one picture....a sweet picture of the girls!
Katy, Molly and Addison
Easter Sunday started off great after a basket delivery from the easter bunny. ;)

The rest of the day was beautiful. It was a perfect spring day which made the holiday that much more perfect. We spent the afternoon/evening at my parents house with my family and extended family.
The kids wore their outfits from the easter bunny. Lucas was so happy to have a new tie.
A couple family pics.

A cute pose.
They loved the easter egg hunt. Lucas was so happy to climb the tree to get an egg.
They were on a mission and got plenty of eggs.
A cute shot of Addison, Emery and Kevin.
My cute nephew Emery!
Next up....Lucas turns 5 in just 4 days.

A rare weekend at home.

We spent a very very rare weekend at home. No birthday parties, no time spent with family or friends, and I didn't even run with a friend this weekend when I went for a brutal 10 mile trail run. We spent 90% of our weekend at home just the 4 of us.
Friday was a nice day at home. Since it has been so warm here, the kids busted out their swim suits and the kiddie pool. I love how Lucas wouldn't open his eyes in this pic because of the sun shining. Check out Addison's new hair cut too. It was her idea to go short and she loves it!
Playing dinosaurs together.

We were on top of things for a change and dyed easter eggs a whole week before the holiday. I think last year we didn't do this until the day before Easter.
Then it was Lucas' turn for a hair cut. I know....it is really really short but it is so nice to have it this short for the summer. Summer isn't here yet but it was 90 degrees here today so it seemed appropriate for his summer cut.

Of course we had to take advantage of our weekend at home by working in the yard again. Bob planted our seeds for our garden...yipee!!! Hay is covering our yard as we try to grow grass. We have learned the need to put hay down on the hill or else the rain will drain the dirt and grass seed away. We will see if we can sucessfully grow our side yard back this year and be able to hang the swings again on the swingset.

We can't wait for the coming weekend for my Mom's birthday and for easter family parties. The weekend after that will be really special....Lucas turns 5!!!!
